Rating:  - Great companion for athletes, but get better headphones
Wow! Just ran 10 miles and the Sony NW-S205 measured it as 9.6. Step and calorie counts are included too. That's pretty impressive for such a small MP3 player. Arm band was also comfortable and player remained water proof against the rain.
Oh, and sound quality is good so long as you get better headphones. I combined it with the Sony MDREX85LPB In-Ear Headphones. They remained in place throughout my run.

I purchased this one year ago for my wife as she is a keen runner. In principle I thought: specific product / big brand. But she has had issue after issue with the software: cannot sync / does not see the player...Now I understand that SONY have moved to Windows Media software for all future products! So my advice is look elsewhere, as the software is not supported and the device has been off the SONY shelves for a long while.

The player itself is really cool packed with lots of more or less useful options and controls (see sony website for full details!), but the way the music is transferred to and from the device is absolutely appalling. If you consider buying this player please bear in minfd the following few points:
1. You can't simply drag and drop music files, as with most of mp3 devices, if you want to be able to play them. You will still be able to drag and drop items into the player folder on your PC, ... Read More

I have been using MP3 players for around 4 years now, primarily in the Gym. (In fact I was the first person to do so) I have owned around 6 MP3 players. (Sweat and MP3 players don't seem to mix well)
This Sony MP3 player is designed for use in the Gym. It is small, it comes with its own arm band and it is sweat proof and most of all it has been designed ergomically.
