If you want to use this you'll need to use Sony's proprietary Sonic Stage software. For that reason alone I would say leave well alone - Google the Sony support forums if you want further confirmation.
That's a real shame because this is a nice fairly rugged little unit that works reasonably well (upgraded headphones are a worthy investment though).

I got this few years ago and it suited me pretty much ok - fab sound quality and the tiny size was really handy for the gym & walking around - but it never held as much music as I wanted it to (about 5 albums) and the online store isn't great. Now I'm looking for something new with loads more memory. If you're after a little mp3 to carry around a few albums, this would be good for you as long as you could find it at a low price.

After considering to upgrade from this mps I have decided maybe not to as it has been so good to me! battery life is immense and the size and look is great. only problem is the twin hard drives and the lack of a random song selection between albums/groups.

I received this mp3 player for my birthday in 2005, and I was extremely pleased with it. The sound quality was good and the interface was easy to use. However, I did have one problem with the device as it seemed to drain battery power when it was switched off, this meant that i had to change the battery quite often- which was quite expensive.
Very good mp3 player and i would recommend it.

I bought this mp3 player in January 2005 and so far have gone through 3 'catches' for the battery compartment. They fall off for no reason and although I'm now very careful, they still come off. The first time it happened, I had the player sent back to Sony HQ, who placed 4 songs of their choice on the dard disks (2 on each one), one of the songs was vile and consisted mostly of swear words.
