The Rio Forge looks like a sturdy player. For the first couple of months of ownership, it performed excellently. The sound quality was good and the radio quality was adequate (though not up to the standard of a personal stereo). The player seemed to be an excellent introduction to MP3 for me as it offered good capacity, clear sound and was easy to use.

I got my Rio for Christmas as a present and after looking forward to getting it for months i was really pleased. After a tiny hicup finding out that the headphones have to be pushed in very securely i was amzed that it only took 15 minutes to install the ssoftware and to start putting music on it.
Months later i was still really haappy with it It had frozen a few times but always came back on and stayed on but a few weeks ago it kept saying update when i started it up i was amazed to find that on ... Read More
Rating: - Good, but can appear to crash
I bought this player whilst in the US, but it's a great player - transferring music is dead easy, and the menu system on the player is intuitive. The only real problem is that when you have about 20% of the battery left, it can have problems starting up - sometimes you need to take the battery out for 5 minutes to allow the Forge to reboot. Sound quality is good, it can use a variety of formats, and battery life is reasonable - the 20 hours claimed is about right. Big plus is the ability to use SD cards ... Read More
