Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good little player!
I brought this a long time ago before HDD and flash memory players were cheap enough to buy. So I'll post a little review for it now.

I like it best because it buffers, so if the bus, train or aeroplane you're own wobbles a bit, the CD doesn't skip whilst your playing. I also like it because it plays WMAs as well as mp3s... and it's not made by iPod. As for Audio CDs, I burn one on a special TDK audio disc, and it refused to play it, but so did every other audio player in the house. ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Rio Volt Jr SP90 MP3 CD Player
When I first got it on my birthday, I had a few problems with it like I couldn't play wma or do the shock protection. But now I know how to play wma and get the shock thing working. The headphones that come with it are very loud but the cd player isn't very loud if you put other headphones in. If you burn cds yourself and you put the mp3 or wma in sections of folders, you can view all the folders on the screen which is good if you have lots of songs on it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good player that also plays WMA, but poor for playlists.
Sure, it may lack a remote, backlight, radio, and it doesn't have lasers shooting out of it, but as the budget model of the series this is still very good value. It looks alright and does the job well enough, but best of all it plays Windows Media Audio in addition to the usual MP3, which means that you can fill your CDs with WMA files and fit more songs on a CD than you could with just MP3, whilst maintaining the same quality. The controls feel quite comfortable, and the LCD display is nice enough ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Nice Unit - Needs a little more attention to detail
This player could have been a best value product if: 1. the battery cover stayed on more securely, and 2. the mode function was explained satisfactorily. (There are many combinations and it's difficult to know how the unit is going to play back in particular modes, e.g. Shuffle-All-Directory, without an involved analysis of the order songs are being played.) What could have been a wonderful three-line display is diminished by some silly dancing man animation on the third line.

On the plus ... Read More

Much better than I expected based on the reviews I'd seen. I don't think it looks cheap either - got a nice matt finish to it. Good sound quality (which is important to me) but not with the supplied headphones. Really pleased with its ability to store partially read tracks therefore limiting the amount of cd spin required. I would have preferred to have paid extra to get the adaptor with it but then you can't have everything. Overall, very impressed.
